OTA Update 5.7.906 For Your Droid 3 [How-To]

Good news for Motorola Droid 3 users, droidian1441 developer over XDA has leaked update for Gingerbread Firmware to the latest leak firmware of Motorola called 5.7.906, he didn’t mentioned any improvements, as it’s leaked so you can expect some bugs and if you want to flash it keep in mind that  this firmware it will not let you revert/change back to your stock ROM, please think before you flash.

If you’re interested follow below guide to install it, but keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Please make a backup of your device data because the below procedure will wipe all data, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.

DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the 906 update.zip to PC.

Step #2: Connect device to the PC via USB Cable and copy the zip file you downloaded earlier to the root directory of your SD card.

Step #3: Disconnect your phone to the computer and turn it off.

Step #4: Reboot into Clockworkmod recovery, in the recovery, do a nandroid backup by selecting “backup> backup and restore> then backup to start saving your old ROM. (This will make a full backup of your existing ROM, and save it to the SD card. You can restore from this backup, if something gets messed up with the installation.)

Step #5: Now do a full wipe by selecting Mount and Storage then wipe the following:

  • Format System
  • Format Data
  • Format Cache
  • Go back to main menu and select advance then wipe dalvik-cache.

Step #6: From the main menu select “install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card>”then select the 906 update.zip to start flashing the 5.7.906 Firmware Update. Once installation finished, go back to main menu and select Reboot system now. That’s it enjoy!
