Root and Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Galaxy Note 2 [How-To]
The Samsung’s latest creation Galaxy Note 2 has started getting the attention of Android development community, now you’re able to install root install the custom recovery on it. A XDA developer Chenglu has just released root and ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) for the Galaxy Note 2.
For unfamiliar, the ClockworkMod is one of most popular custom recovery for Android out there that allows you to install .zip files containing custom ROMs, MODs, tweaks and other more, you can also make the backup of your Galaxy Note2 using it even wipe too when you need.
As I said above the root is also available for the phablet 2, rooting will void the limitations of Samsung on your Galaxy Note 2 and lets you to completely customize the device, you’ll also be able to install all non-market apps that aren’t available on Play store.
You can install CWM recovery separately on your Galaxy Note 2 if you want but if you love to keep your Android device rooted, the root is also available along with CWM, the below guide will walk you through how to root and install ClockworkMod recovery for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100, but before you root your phone first do keep in mind that rooting will also void the warranty of your phone, so think twice before rooting, however you get warranty back by install an official firmware on it. The below guide is just for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 having model number N7100, you can check your device detail from Setting>About Phone.
Make sure the device battery is charged, use a Windows PC, disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program because they can disturb the procedure, Galaxy Note 2 USB device drivers must be installed on your PC, you can use Samsung KIES to install them but during the process it must be disabled. Please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Instructions
Step #1: If you want to install just ClockworkMod recovery, download it from here (File Name: cwm6-recovery-note2.tar.md5) but if you also want to get root access, download root and CWM recovery file from here (File name: cwm6-root-note2.tar.md5).
Step #2: Download the Odin3-v1.838.exe to your PC.
Step #3: Run the downloaded Odin3-v1.838.exe file.
Step #4: Turn the device off.
Step #5: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume up and power buttons.
Step #6: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will change its color and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #7: Click on PDA Button and locate the cwm6-recovery-note2.tar.md5 file or cwm6-root-note2.tar.md5 which you downloaded in the first step (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #8: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #9: Unplug your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from PC.

Hi, could someone please tell me how I can root my Galaxy S3 i9000 using a MAC OSX 10.8.2? Some one said I could install anything using Clockwork ROM Manager and ODIN app direct on my phone? Any ideas or help would be appreciated
