Root and Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Galaxy Note Running ICS XXLQ2 Firmware
For those, who love their rooted device but have upgraded their Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with official Samsung Ice Cream Sandwich XXLQ2 firmware , here’s good news for you, a CF-root has been released developed by recognized XDA developer member chainfire.
This tool root your Galaxy Note and also install ClockworkMod recovery on your device, which means you can install custom ROMs, modes, tweaks, take backup of ROM, wipe device with no trouble by install this tool. The previous ICS firmware brick the device when you wipe device in recovery mode, so care.
Follow below guide to root the device with CF-Root tool, but first charge the device battery and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. USB drivers should be installed on PC, you can download the drivers for 32-bit (x86) Windows here and 64-bit (x64) Windows drivers from here.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the CF-Tool and Odin 1.85 to computer and unzip the files into a folder.
Step #2: Double click on Odin 1.85.exe to run the file.
Step #3: Click on PDA button and select the CF-Root-SGN_XX_XEU_LQ2-v5.6-CWM5.tar from the folder where you’ve extracted the firmware in first step.
Step #4: Turn the device off and reboot the device into download mode, to do it by hold down Volume Down and Home and Power buttons till a warring screen appear on device, then press the Volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear.
Step #6: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation is done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS in Odin. Once it done, disconnect the device from computer.
