Root and Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G Running ICS XXLPQ Firmware

Recently Samsung released Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G in the form of i9000GXXLPQ firmware. For those, who have upgraded their Galaxy S2 Gt-I9100G and now want to root the device, we got good news, now they can easily root their device and also install ClockworkMod recovery with a rooting tool.

Read on how to root and install cwm recovery on Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G running Ice Cream Sandwich XXLPQ firmware but first keep in mind that USB drivers should be installed on PC, download the from here and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

DISCLAIMER: Please proceed the below guide at your own risk, Android Egis will not be held responsible if your device lost data or get damaged following this guide.

Instructions

Step #1: Download following three files from XDA: LP7 Kernel  | Rooting Package | Odin 1.85

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded rooting package to the device’s internal SD card.

Step #3: Unzip the downloaded Odin 1.85 into a folder.

Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped Odin and run Odin 1.85.

Step #5: Click on PDA button and locate the downloaded GT-I9100G_LP7_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4.tar file that you’ve downloaded in first step.

Step #6: Turn the device off.

Step #7: Reboot the device into download mode by pressing the Volume Down + Home + Power button simultaneously. Your phone will then show you a warning. Simply skip the warning by pressing the Volume Up button.

Step #8: Now plug the device to your computer using USB cable.

Step #9: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear.

Step #10: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS.

Step #11: Once the above flashing is done, disconnect the device from PC and turn it off.

Step #12: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons until screen turn on, device will enter into recovery in some seconds (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #13: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #14: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

    After “Step 14#” , my phone just wont turn on!!, it stucked on Galaxy S2 with a yellow exclamation mark on the screen and not starting up!
    Please Help ;(

      put it into recovery mode and perform wipe, then reboot phone and it should turn on phone normally…..

    hi, after step 11, i cannot go reboot to recovery mode, always same black screen appears with samung galaxy SII GT-I9100G appears in white … even cannot start in normal mode. .. phone is almost died what can i do plz
