Root and Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Samsung Infuse 4G running UCLB3 Firmware [How-To]
Rooting allows you to obtain the superuser rights to your Android device. A few days ago Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread UCBL3 firmware released for Samsung Infuse 4G, XDA developer jscott30 has found a method to root your Samsung Infuse 4G on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread UCLB3 firmware, the method also install ClockworkMod recovery on your device. As usual we got a step by step guide to root your device and install recovery on UCBL3 firmware.
Before you follow guide first keep in mind that it’s just for AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-I997, please use PC running Windows OS, please make a backup of device data such as internet setting, sms, music file etc and Samsung USB drivers should be installed get 32-bit Windows or 64-bit Windows. Please disable Samsung KIES, antivirus program and other firewall and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. Lastly turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the UCLB3 firmware from here or here to computer and unzip it into a single folder. You’ll get a folder containing following files: I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-busybox.tar.md5 – Odin3 v1.7.exe – Readme.txt.
Step #2: Turn the phone off.
Step #3: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the volume up, volume down and power button, when you see Samsung logo on screen, leave power button and when the device enter in recovery mode leave volume keys too.
Step #4: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power key to select menus, select delete all user data and confirm on next screen.
Step #5: Return to main recovery menu.
Step #6: Select reboot system now, when the device is rebooting pull the battery from device.
Step #7: Re insert the battery to the device.
Step #8: On your PC open the folder where you’ve extracted above downloaded file.
Step #9: Run Odin from the folder.
Step #10: Click on PDA button in Odin and locate the I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-busybox.tar.md5 from the above folder.
Step #11: Hold down the Volume up and volume down button on device while connecting to PC using USB cable, it will connect the device into download mode.
Step #12: Odin will detect the device and you’ll get a message saying ADDED.
Step #13: Click on start button in Odin, it will start installation.
Step #14: Once the installation is done, the device will reboot itself, and you’ll get a message saying PASS.
Step #15: Disconnect the device from PC.
Step #16: Your device is rooted now with ClockworkMod recovery.
