Root and Install CWM Recovery on Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on Android 4.0 ICS UCLF5


Samsung has already released the Android 4.0 ICS for the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 but the AT&T Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727 users are waiting, an Ice Cream Sandwich UCLF5 has been leaked and if you have installed this firmware, now want to root the device and install ClockworkMod recovery here’s guide for you.

Before you start first make sure your device is on Android 4.0 UCLF5 firmware, check the device detail from Setting>About Phone, you need a Windows PC with USB drivers installed on your PC, make sure the device battery is charged and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the following files: Odin 1.85 – ClockworkMod RecoveryRoot

Step #2: Copy the root file to the SD card of the device, make a folder on PC, copy the recovery file and unzip the Odin into that folder.

Step #3: Make sure the device isn’t connected with PC and run the .exe file of Odin on PC.

Step #4: Turn off phone and put into download mode by holding down volume up and volume down buttons while plugging the device to the PC, the running firmware program will detect the device.

Step #5: Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear.

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate SkyrocketCWMrecovery.tar from the folder you made in step 2.

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS.

Step #8: Unplug the device from PC and turn off again.

Step #9: Reboot phone in recovery mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons.

Step #10: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #11: Return to main menu, to do so, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

That’s it, you’ve now rooted device with ClockworkMod recovery installed.
