Root and Install Recovery on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Easily

Root and Install Recovery on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Easily

A few days ago a root method was released for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 but the method also works on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 but a now a easy root and custom recovery method is available for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, this method specially for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, thanks to senior XDA developer member tapan15in.

You’re able to install your desired custom recovery such as TWRP or ClockworkMod recovery, the ClockworkMod is a ever popular custom recovery for the Android devices but TWRP is also very useful custom recovery that comes with nice features like you can use touch controls in recovery mode, you can easily flash zip files, make backup of existing ROM and restore, and do much more. However install whichever you like the most, first you’ll install the recovery and then you’ll root the device but do keep in your mind rooting voids the limitations of the manufacturer on the device and gives you Super User rights, there are number of rooting’s benefits but since rooting voids manufacturer limitations, it will also void the warranty of your tablet, so thing carefully before you root.

Please do note that this recovery and rooting is just for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 model number P3100, so don’t try it on any other model or device, you may damage the device. You’ll need Odin to install the recovery file, USB drivers should be installed on your PC otherwise Odin will not detect the device, download 32 bit (x86) Windows from here and 64-bit (x64) Windows from here. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

DISCLAIMER: Please proceed the below guide at your own risk, Android Egis will not be held responsible if your device lost data or get damaged following this guide.

Step #1: Download your desired custom recovery file to PC:

Step #2: Download the Odin3 and Rooting Package to PC.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file into SD card of your tablet.

Step #4: Now extract the contents of Odin3 into a folder.

Step #5: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped the Odin3 and double click on .exe file to open Odin3.

Step #6: Now in Odin, you need to tick on auto reboot and that’s all. If you see any ticks in any boxes except this just untick it.

Step #7: Turn the device off.

Step #8: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so press and hold down Volume Down button, when you see Download Mode, don’t turn off just plug the tab to PC using USB cable.

Step #9: Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear.

Step #10: Click on PDA Button and locate expresso_recovery.tar file that you’ve downloaded in the first step.

Step #11: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS.

Step #12: If you’ve successfully installed the recovery on your device, unplug the device from the PC.

Step #13: Once again turn off the tablet.

Step #14: Now reboot the tablet into recovery mode by holding down the volume up+power on button.

Step #15: Once you’re in the recovery mode, you’ll find a option to select the zip from the SD card, select this option, and then locate the file that you’ve transfer into the tablet SD card in third step.

Step #16: Once the installation is done, your tablet is rooted and it will reboot.

Step #17: If you want to install the TWRP recovery, just download the TWRP recovery zip files from step 1, then once again turn off the device and reboot into CWM recovery mode, there you can install the TWRP recovery zip file, after installation, reboot your tablet and you’re done.

That’s it, you’re done, you’ve now rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with the ClockworkMod recovery installed, now you’re able to install .zip files in recovery mode, wipe the device, make the backup of ROM and do much more. You should check the root access on your tablet, to check the root access, in the in the applications menu if you are getting superuser app, your tablet is rooted and you’re able to install all root-required apps on your tablet.
