Root Your Nook Color Running 1.4.1/1.4.2 Firmware
Rooting the Android device voids the all limitations of manufacturer on device and allows you to upgrade your Android device with custom ROMs, hacks, custom kernels and much more. Here’s rooting method for those who have upgraded their Nook Color with latest 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 firmware, you can check about the Nook Color firmware from Setting>About phone.
Follow below guide to root the device, but keep in mind that rooting will void the warranty of device, so you should think carefully before you proceed. Your device battery should be charged. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup to back apps.

Step #1: Download the Rooting Package to PC.
Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.
Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to the root folder of device’s SD card.
Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Turn the device on and the device will boot into recovery mode itself.
Step #7: Once you’re in recovery mode, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete, once it done the device will reboot itself. That’s it, enjoy!
