T-Mobile Galaxy S3 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Official Update Is Available Now – Installation Guide
The wait is over now, after international and Sprint variants of Galaxy S3, T-Mobile Galaxy S3 variant is now also receiving the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update officially through OTA having firmware version T999UVDLJA. As most of you know well that Android 4.1 comes with impressive features such as Google Now, offline voice typing, expandable notification bar, smooth interface, improved camera app and more. Hopefully T-Mobile will release the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean too soon in near future.
Check OTA notification to upgrade your T-Mobile Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but if you can’t update your phone via OTA (over the air), simply install the official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean T999UVDLJA firmware for T-Mobile Galaxy S3 manually. This guide shows you how to update T-Mobile Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with UVDLJA firmware manually.
You need a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you can use Samsung KIES to install them but before installation disable it, because it may disturb installation. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download T999UVDLJA firmware for T-Mobile Galaxy S3 from here (Filename: T999UVDLJA_T999TMBDLJA_TMB.zip) to your PC.
Step #2: Download Odin3_v3.04.zip to your PC from XDA.
Step #3: Unzip both .zip files into a folder.
Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until screen turns on, then press volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate T999UVDLJA_T999TMBDLJA_T999UVDLJA_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 3 (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #10: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down up, home and power buttons. In recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
