How To Unroot LG G3 (Any Variant) [Windows Tutorial]


Of course, you gain a lot when you have root access on your shiny LG G3. Rooting enables you to enjoy the unofficial tweaks, deep customization, access to system apps and more. But there’s disadvantage too, it may void the warranty of your phone. And due to this reason or any other reason, if you are looking for a way to unroot LG G3, you have landed on a good place.

Here you can unroot LG G3 even any variant of device using a Windows computer. Read on how to do this (check your phone’s model first from Setting>About Phone>hardware information).

How To Unroot LG G3

Step #1: Go to this XDA thread, there download FlashTool and drivers for your phone.

Step #2: Fire up driver exe file and follow on-screen instructions to install drivers.

Step #3: Now open the FlashTool and follow onscreen instructions for installation. Uncheck “run flash tool” at the end of installation.

Step #4: Once you are done, right-click the MegaLock.dll and copy it.

Step #5: Go to C: > LG > Flashtool > and paste it inside the folder with MegaLock.dll (Note: Replace the already existing file).

Step #6: Turn your LG G3 off and boot in download mode. Once the phone is fully turned off, plug it in while holding the volume up button, don’t leave button until you see download mode pop up on screen.

Step #7: On your computer, fire up the Device Manager. Find the port LGE Mobile USB Serial Port, right click on it and select Properties. Then click on Port Settings > Advanced > change the COM Port Number to 41 and click OK.

Step #8: Check this developer’s hosting profile, there download the stock firmware depending on the model number of your phone. Open phone’s folder and navigate until you get the BIN.zip file. Download this to your computer. Then go back, look for .dll file inside a different sub folder and download to your computer.

Step #9: Launch the FlashTool you just installed on your computer.

Step #10: Select “Manual Mode”, hit three dots button and locate .dll file you just downloaded. Then hit Add to the right of S/W and locate the .tot file you downloaded.

Step #11: Hit Yellow arrow. When you are asked to be ready, unplug phone for 5 seconds and then plug this back. It should automatically start the installation of stock firmware.

Step #12: Once your phone is rebooted, you are on stock unrooted firmware and you are done.

That’s it, you are owner of a non-rooted LG G3.
