Upgrade Galaxy S Plus to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean via DoomNEXUS ROM

The Samsung Galaxy S Plus (Galaxy S 2011 Edition) has received a Jelly Bean build as a custom ROM named DoomNEXUS, it’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean based custom ROM that is built from the CyanogenMod but has some extra tweaks, thanks to senior XDA developer member Doomsday94.

However the DoomNEXUS ROM is still being updated, some features aren’t working currently such as the camera app, hopefully developer will bring the camera soon in near future as well as will fix other bugs.

Read on how to install DoomNEXUS ROM for Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001, make sure your phone is rooted with a custom recovery installed, check out our this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery and check this guide to install TWRP recovery. If your phone isn’t rooted, follow our this guide to root. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

DISCLAIMER: Please proceed the below guide at your own risk, Android Egis will not be held responsible if your device lost data or gets damaged following this guide.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the DoomNEXUS V2 ROM (DoomNEXUS V2 20121012.zip) and GApps (Google Apps)  (gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip).

Step #2: Transfer both .zip files to the SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the volume down and power buttons (Note: If you’re using ClockworkMod mode, use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup in ClockworkMod, select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again, for TWRP select backup and scroll to start it.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, in ClockworkMod recovery first select the wipe data/factory reset, and in TWRP select wipe and then select factory reset.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: If you’re on ClockworkMod, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation, but if you’re TWRP, select “install” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file.

Step #9: Once the ROM .zip file is installed, repeat the previous step again and install the Gapps .zip file in the same manner.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your phone.

That’s it, enjoy the newer Android version – Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, if you faced any issue, do comment below and we’ll help.

the first boot may take time, if nothing happen, reboot into recovery mode perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Lastly go to main menu, there select advance and then select wipe delvik. After that install the ROM again.

Unfortunately, the ROM still contains a few bugs, we know the camera isn’t working, however the developer is trying to iron out all bugs, you may check the XDA thread (link is given at the bottom of the post “via”) for latest updates.

Sorry for bothering you, just one question…I did everything you said, and everything looks great, but as previous posts said, I can´t access Google play and stuff…i manually installed all the needed applications, with apk. files, but some of them, like Facebook or local newspaper I´m reading just won´t work…tried the solution with http://d-h.st/meX, but it won´t install, it says: Installation aborted…
    Thanks for your help..
