HTC EVO 4G has received another Jelly Bean based custom ROM named Slim Bean, the Slim Bean ROM has already been ported to many devices but it’s unofficial build for EVO 4G, it’s very small size ROM that has no bloatware but it brings a fast performance and gives you a great Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean experience.  It’s great to taste Jelly Bean with Slim Bean that brings a smooth performance, Google Now app, new notification bar, improved camera app, an advanced keyboard app and much more, say thanks to senior XDA developer member 88exp88 who ported this ROM to HTC EVO 4G.

The Slim Bean ROM is still in development stages that means it may contains some bugs, the developer mentioned that camera, 4G, Netflix and FFC aren’t working currently, the lockscreen off center, you need to switch lockscreen to pattern to fix this bug. It may not stable for everyday use but the developer will fix theses issues soon.

Read on how to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based Slim Bean ROM on HTC EVO 4G, the ROM is just for HTC EVO 4G, don’t try on HTC EVO 4G LTE. The bootloader of your phone must be unlocked and it should S-off, the ClockworkMod or Amaonra recovery also should be installed on the phone. Before you install the ROM first create a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download following required files:

• Slim Bean ROM [XDA LINK] (download latest version)
• Common_2.zip (download latest version)

Step #2: Place both .zip files to the internal SD card of your phone.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power buttons, first it may enter in HBOOT, there select recovery optionl (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in second step and confirm installation.

Step #8: Once the ROM .zip file is installed, repeat last step again and install Common_2.zip file in the same manner.

Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
