Upgrade HTC Sensation to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean via ParanoidAndroid ROM

People love Android because Android development community love to provide latest Android software updates before the official releases, in recent times, many Android devices saw the Paranoid Android ROM version 2.0 that based on latest Android version Jelly Bean Android 4.1.1 and Android development community has now ported the ROM to another Android device HTC Sensation, thanks to senior XDA developer member DragunKorr for this effort.

The ParanoidAndroid ROM features hybrid phone, tablet and pheblat mode that allow you to individually scale and size your apps and customize different aspect of your HTC Sensation’s interface. Jelly Bean will give you a smooth performance and adds improved notification, search, camera and keyboard.

The ROM is still under development and being updated by the developer, currently it has some issues and bugs like the front camera isn’t working currently but the develop will iron out every bug soon in near future.

Continue reading to learn how to install ParanoidAndroid ROM on HTC Sensation, it’s important to note that your HTC Sensation bootloader must be unlocked with S-Off and ClockworkMod recovery also should be installed on the phone, you can unlock bootloader the bootloader officially from here and follow our this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery.  Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ParanoidAndroid ROM from here [XDA Link] and Google Apps (gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip) from here or here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power buttons, first you’ll enter in HBOOT, there select recovery mode to enter in recovery mode.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: From the main menu, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. After ROM installation, install the Google Apps .zip file in the same manner.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
