Upgrade T-Mobile Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1 T999UVDLI3 Firmware via FrostyJB ROM


Recently the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 saw 2 leaked Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA updates and second one has been used in a custom ROM named JBFrost, a senior XDA developer member djintrigue808 developed the JBFrost custom ROM that based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean UVDLI3 firmware. It’s a pre-rooted custom ROM and has no bloatware.

So those of you can’t wait for official Jelly Bean update release can try this custom ROM but first do keep in mind that since this ROM is based on a leaked firmware, it may contains some bugs, however the interface is very smooth.

Continue reading to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean T999UVDLI3 firmware based JBFrost ROM on T-Mobile Galaxy S3 T999. The ClockworkMod recovery must be installed on your phone, be sure to follow our this guide or use this all-in-one toolkit to install ClockworkMod recovery. You should make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of JBFrost ROM from here [XDA Link].

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded .zip file to the internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
