Samsung Galaxy S5 teardown is here – shows off massive improvements
Samsung Galaxy S5 teardown reveals massive improvements with Qualcomm chips and ISOCELL camera chip.
The Korean company will bring the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship phone soon to stores nearby your home (if Samsung is working officially in your hometown). But Chipworks has already taken the Galaxy S5 to a workshop and revealed what Samsung packed inside the phone. Chipworks played with GS5’s hardware and identified many chips including Qualcomm. Samsung is using couples of Qualcomm chips on Galaxy S5 for various functions and we are listing them below.
QFE1100 (Envelope Tracking Power Amplifier PMIC)
WFR1620 (RF Receiver)
WTR1625L (RF Transceiver)
MSM8974AC (Snapdragon 801 (BB/AP SoC)
WCD9320 (Audio Codec)
PMC8974 (BB/AP Power Management)
The Samsung Galaxy S5 brings tons of improvements and changes. The most interesting you may like is probably the image sensor, it packs in-house ISOCELL technology. This latest camera ISOCELL chip is better a lot after the backside-illuminated sensors (BSI). This technology secures 30% reduction in crosstalk and 30% growth in full well capacity. This is the reason you can capture great photos using the 16MP camera on Samsung Galaxy S5. But it is worthy to mention here that Samsung does not sit still with it and we will hopefully see new improvements in future.
If you want to get more information about the hardware, head over to Chipworks.[Thanks Chipworks, all credit goes to you]
