The CES 2013 brought 5-inch waterproof Sony flagship smartphone – Sony Xperia Z, the phone doesn’t only feature a stylish design but also a stylish home launcher as you can see the above screenshot and if you’ve a Samsung smartphone and want to get your hands on Xperia Z home launcher, here you can do so. A recognized XDA themer has just ported the Xperia Z home launcher to many Samsung smartphones, it’s currently available for Samsung Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2 even it has been tested on Galaxy Nexus too.
When Samsung Galaxy S2 will get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update officially from Samsung through OTA and Samsung KIES? We have received many leaked rumors about the release but none of them were true even there was a leaked official image for the release date that shown November 2012 but it’s 2013, none of them were solid. However now we’re really might be closer to the Galaxy S2 Jelly bean and this report seems confirmed.
Back in October, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 received the XXALJ1 firmware that brings the multi-window feature, for unfamiliar the multi-window feature allow you to use two apps at a time in one window and if you love multi-window and own a Samsung Galaxy S2, here’s something interesting for you. A senior XDA developer member mythtrandyr has ported the Galaxy Note 2 feature MOD to the Galaxy S2 and it’s fully working as you can see the above screenshots. This MOD isn’t limited to multi-window feature but also has icons shortcut on lockscreen, ripple lockscreen, skip songs with volume rocker, no homebutton lag and four ways to reboot your Galaxy S2.
The CyanogenMod 10.1 has officially been ported to Samsung Galaxy S2 having model number GT-9100G and the new CyanogenMod 10.1 is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean while offering a lot of customization features and apps such as apollo music player and more. The newer Android 4.2 version also brought a lot of useful features like Panorama mode with photo sphere camera app that gives your great photography experience, gesture-based keyboard, improved notification bar and more, thanks to elite recognized XDA developer codeworkx.
However the CyanogenMod 10.1 for the Galaxy S2 I91005 is still under development, so you may expect some bugs, though there’s almost all major things are working, so you should give it a try to taste Jelly Beans.
Last month Samsung said that they’ll release the Jelly bean update soon for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and now seems true on words and we’re closer to Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update release because Galaxy S2 has just received a leaked Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware – I9100XXLSJ, thanks to XDA developer member izap.
It’s alpha Jelly Bean firmware for the Galaxy S2 but it reportedly works fine and it’s very stable, even as I said that XXLSJ firmware is based on Android 4.1.2 instead of Android 4.1.1, which suggest us that Samsung has skipped the Android 4.1.1 and is going to update Galaxy S2 directly to Android 4.1.2. Since this is very stable build, hopefully Galaxy S2 will receive official Jelly Bean update in a few days.
Samsung already has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update soon, the Samsung Galaxy S3 already has received the Jelly Bean update but the Samsung Galaxy S2 users are still waiting but here’s the date when their wait will over, Samsung has just confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update through OTA next month, the Sweden would be first lucky country where Samsung will release the Jelly Bean for Galaxy S2 first.
We also got good news for Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, both Note will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean soon, Samsung said that they’ll release the Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 10.1 before the end of this year, that’s great.

So pick your Galaxy S2 up and check for OTA notification to upgrade your Galaxy S2 to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich I9100XWLPW firmware, but if you’re not Indian or can’t upgrade your phone via OTA, install the I9100XWLPW firmware on Galaxy S2 manually.

The fun hasn’t been over yet, the LG UI3 home launcher also has been ported to your Galaxy S2, it’s another stunning home launcher that looks different from the TouchWiz UI of Samsung but includes impressive features such as the 5 x 4 home, a weather widget and more, thanks to XDA developer member Gyebro for bringing it to us.
The ParanoidAndroid is Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based custom ROM that is famous for different modes even it has the tablet mode, so you can turn your Android smartphone into a phablet with Paranoid Android custom ROM, the app brings unique UI to your Android table, thanks to XDA developer member jay.dub who made the ParanoidAndroid ROM available for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989.
However, since this is not official Samsung ROM, there may be a few bugs with the ROM, however it’s pretty fast and almost everything is working fine.
Recently Google rolled out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for some Android devices but some of Android devices are still waiting even for Android 4.1.1 JB update such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, however Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S2 will receive the Jelly Bean update soon in near future but those of you can’t wait for it, try the RootBox ROM.
The RootBox custom ROM is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and the developer build the ROM from different resources like it also includes the AOKP features that is known for its customization and CyanogenMod features, as well as all Jelly Bean features such as the advanced notification bar, smarter keyboard, Google Now search app, faster browser, improved camera app, and much more, it brings faster performance.
However, the Vanilla RootBox for the Galaxy S2 is still being updated, so there may be a few bugs and issues like the HWcomposer isn’t working and there’s no ability to swap Internal/External yet.
The most popular trimmed size Slim Bean custom ROM is now available for the AT&T Skyrocket, it’s very lightweight custom ROM that always comes with minimal size almost 50MB to 100MB because it has no bloatware but packed with numerous useful customizable features that allow you to tweak the performance of your Skyrocket. The Slim Bean ROM is based on latest Android version, the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean that also comes with attention-getting features like it brings a smooth performance to your Android device along with lots of new apps (Google Now, new smarter keyboard, advanced notification bar and much more).
However, the Slim Bean for AT&T Skyrocket is still being updated and under development, it currently contains some bugs like the lockscreen weather may not work. The developer will iron out them in near future.
Not a while ago the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100g variant received AOKP Jelly Bean build but it lacked some of useful customization features, as most of you know well that the AOKP ROM is famous for so many customizable features, the good news is that, a recognized XDA contributor bajee11 has just released another new Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based AOKP build unofficially for the Galaxy S2 I9100G. But since the ROM is still being updated, you still might some bugs.
